Fall Trend Report // Suede Style

Thursday, August 27, 2015

You don't have to break the bank to make this huge fall trend your own. Suede was all over the A/W runways, so it should come to no surprise that this will be making a big appearance in stores this fall. You can choose to go all out and invest or go the more affordable route for this season's suede clothes, shoes, and accessories! My favorite runway shows to back look at for suede inspiration are Ralph Lauren, Chloe, and Burberry!

Affordable Clothes
As far as following this trend for clothing pieces, it is not something I consider to be an investment piece. I would go to places such as H&M, forever21, or Zara for skirts, coats, and tops. Here are a few of my favorite affordable pieces!
Dress // Skirt // Coat

Suede Shoe Steals
Shoes can go either way in terms of choosing to invest or go affordable. If you're feeling the suede over the knee look, I would say go for an affordable dupe. If you're like me you have been lusting over the Stuart Weitzman lowlands, but can't justify the $800 price tag that comes along with it. A great alternative I have gotten is the Sam Edelman look-alikes.
Accessories
Accessories are the item that I am more willing to spend a little extra on, and really invest in, especially when it comes to handbags. For me this season it has to be all about the Chloe bags that are stealing my suede loving heart!

Back To School //Organizing Essentials

Monday, August 17, 2015

With the start of school fast approaching I thought it may be helpful to share some items that I have found to be a must to get through the school year. The biggest thing to have a successful year is to stay organized, so these are all things that will help do just that!

Folders//Notebooks
Folders and notebooks are an obvious must have. What works best for me is to have my notebook and folder for each class color coordinate. It's a simple way to keep things together, so when I'm leaving for class I can just look for the color I need and quickly be on my way!

Stick Tabs//Clips
I use a combination of stick tabs, paper clips, and binder clips to group chapters together for exams. I use the stick tabs in my textbook to mark the beginning and end of a section that will be on the exam. So if my exam will cover chapters 1 through 4, I place one tab at the beginning of chapter 1 and one at the end of chapter 4. The paper clips are used to clip together individual chapters in my notebook or powerpoint print outs. Then I use the binder clip to group together all the chapters that will be on the exam. I try to use the same color tabs and clips so when it come time for finals I know where one section begins and the other ends.

Colored Pens// Red Highlighter
Colored pens are great for rewriting notes. It helps break up large sections of notes, and is especially helpful when copying down diagrams. A red highlighter and pen are also a must for studying. In one of my psych courses I learned that when we underline or highlight important information in red, it helps us remember it better. The only place I have been able to find a pack of red highlighter is on Amazon, but it is defiantly worth it!

Planner
The most important thing to have for a successful year is a good planner. This will save you so much stress if you use a planner. Planners help you keep track of important due dates and exam dates that can seem to all pile up. I use different color highlighters to highlight the important dates for each class in the calendar to keep everything sorted and separated. I write the important dates on the monthly calendar in my planner, then I use the day-to-day part for homework assignments and such.

 Top: H&M// Skirt: Topshop// Boots: H&M

 Bag: H&M Watch: Daniel Wellington

I admit, when in comes to color, my wardrobe is seriously lacking it. I find that I am most comfortable in my black and white, and if I'm feeling extra adventurous maybe some gray will get thrown in there too. I am trying to get better at adding color into my outfits, and have found the easiest way to do so is in accessories, especially bags. I found this little gem at H&M and knew it would give me that pop of color that I had been so desperately craving!

Denim + Lace

Saturday, August 8, 2015

Bralette:Aerie// Sandals:Target (similar)//

Jeans: AE// Top:Forever21//

I love pairing the toughness of denim with the delicate look of lace. The two textures create the perfect contrast to each other, especially when the lace is in a lighter color, such as this blush pink.  This look has definitely been a go to for me. The weather has been a bit unpredictable where I am, so mixing the denim with a lightweight top has me ready for whatever weather is thrown my way! The look and practicality of this outfit has kept me reaching for it all summer. As autumn begins to roll around, all I'll need to do is pop on a leather jacket and I'll be ready to take on fall.
